No Shopping Challenge Day 2

Today has been very productive. I’m sticking to my plan of not just no shopping but also de-cluttering, and I’ve made a start.

I did all my unpacking from my Christmas holiday in Joburg (which usually takes me at least a week to finish), then I sorted out my socks, tights and underwear drawer. In the process I got rid of:

11 pairs of underwear
3 pairs of stockings
1 garter belt
4 pairs pop socks
21 pairs of socks plus 4 odd socks

I also put aside 4 t-shirts and 1 pair of trainers to give to charity and found out about a local charity in Shenzhen that accepts good quality donations of clothes and shoes. For items that aren’t good enough for charity, there’s a recycling donation box in the courtyard of my apartment complex which you can donate clothes, shoes, bags and bedding to.

Food-wise I ate my last frozen ready meal (spinach and ricotta canneloni from M&S) and chopped up one of the 2kg blocks of cheese I brought back from SA to freeze. At least I won’t be running out of cheese anytime soon!

The rest of the week will be more of a challenge as I’m back at work tomorrow. I’m planning to walk to work and have protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, then a healthy dinner in the evening. Evening meals will be the hardest as I often go out for food with my friends after work, but I’ve now limited myself to eating out once a week (unless it’s a special occasion). Fingers crossed I can stick to that!
